From My Balcony
(Not written to a tune)
What I see from my balcony
Are the cool, summer woods.
The birds chatter from afar
The lawn beckons with welcoming grass.
What I see from my balcony
Are the flame-colored trees of fall.
Pine needles cover the sloping hill
Cold air nips my nose.
What I see from my balcony
Are the sleeping, snow-covered trees.
A thick, layer of snow covers the yard
And a child is building forts.
What I see from my balcony
Is the bright green color of spring.
Trees in bloom, leaves budding out
The colors around abound.
My balcony is a perfect place
To see the changing world.
I’m grateful to be here to see
What I see from my balcony.
