I Know the Cost

 I Know the Cost

(Tune of “I Know The Truth” from Broadway play Aida)

How did I come here?

How did I get to the mall?

How did I throw half my paycheck way?

Without any thought at all?

It should’ve lasted a month.

It’s gone before it began.

I closed my eyes, I swiped my card

Now I no longer can.

I try to blame it on impulse.

My shopping desires innate

Now I know the cost and it shocks me.

I learned it a little too late.

I know the cost and it mocks me

I know the cost and it haunts me

I learned it just a little too late.

My friends have faith in me.

I know I do too.

I promise to all I’ll spend less money.

I’ll pay what is due.

I’ll save as much as I can.

I’ll keep every silver coin.

I’ll hold on to so much for so long.

The solvent I will rejoin.

I tried to blame it on impulse.

The advertising ornate.

But I know the cost and it taunts me.

My spending went a little too far.

I know the price has been costly

I know I’ll fix my credit history.

My spending won’t help me pay off my car.

I’ll no longer blame it on impulse.

Denial is what I hate.

I know credit cards do not make you free.

I learned it just a little too late.

So Much Better

So Much Better (Tune of “ So Much Better ” from Broadway play Legally Blonde ) All of this time I stressed and I felt depressed. I sat inside listless. I lost interest in the world and in a ball I curled. I went to sleep restless.   I started to exercise to stop feeling down. I used all of what I know. I put effort into this change I had to undergo   Whoa! What is this feeling that I feel? Is this slim body truly real? This mirror’s image, is that my visage? Someone pinch me to make sure.   I feel good when I run and hike. I am doing a routine that is right I’m feeling so much better than before.   Sadness, you have been a pest. Even my best was not keeping you back. Now it looks like I’ve found a cure. And now I so cherish this life hack. I’m on the attack.   I remember when I felt I would break. So, I worked out ‘til I sweat. Now I have a very sexy silhouette No regrets. I feel more mentally sharp. Life’s better with a stronger heart. I have energy. I’m...

Can You Hear the Birds Today

Can You Hear the Birds Today ( Tune of " Can You Feel the Love Tonight " by  Elton John ) In my restless moments, Of worry and care I seek out my lovely planet. I try to be aware.   I sit outside to rest. I breath refreshing air. It’s enough to help me be at ease. It feels just like a prayer.   Can you hear the birds today? Hear the eagle’s cry. The raptor’s call is calling out to me “See leaves against the sky.”   Will you walk beneath the boughs? In the cool moist air. When you feel gentle breeze blowing by On your skin so bare.   The four seasons come and go Moving at a creep. I know that the winter’s snow Puts the world to sleep.   The spring will come in season. To the wild outdoors. The summer sun brings much abundant growth. The fall produce is stored.   Can you sense the earth’s cycles? Time’s endless spiral. This blue-green world of oceans full of life. In a great circle.   Smell the pine trees on the hill. See the sun shine in. The ...

I Get Up Again

I Get Up Again (Tune of " Tubthumping " by Chumbawamba) We’ll be singing, when achieving, hollering when…   Life knocks me down, I get up again. It’s never gonna keep me down. Life trips me up, but I right myself, it’s never gonna stamp me down. Life beats me up, but I come back again. It never will inhibit me. Life thumps me hard, but I scamper back. It’s never gonna stifle me.   Life can be really hard, life is a business. You’ve got some pricey bills, you’ve got to advertise. Your pay check reminds you of the good times. Your loved ones remind you of the best times. (Have some goals so, you can leave legacies)   Life pounds me down, but I return again It’s never gonna repress me. Life hite me hard, but I recoup again It’s never gonna conquer me. Life bangs me down, but I retake again It’s never gonna quash me down. Life bumps me down, but I restore again It’s never gonna subdue me.   Remember to buy cheap, remember to sell dear. To make good money, find...
