I embrace my name “Karen” and I’ll share what that means.

 

I’m a dame who does not feel entitled.

I’m a dame who knows hard work

I see people as individuals

and expect each one to show high standards and good behavior…

 

I am a dame who pursues veracity.

I am fast, thorough and sharp as a tack.

I’ve been teaching young children

I’ve been feeding the hungry

I use good modeling and direct “I” statements to pick up slack.

 

I get up early

I tend to work late.

I stand tall and proud of my abilities.

I use them and tact to cut through red tape.

 

I talk to the manager if there is a problem

that can be solved to benefit all.

I live with compassion to keep me on track.

I like the power and grace of Beyoncé

and I know she’s black.

 

I am proud of my confidence, because it was hard-earned.

It came when I became at peace with myself and I shared that peace with the world.

I am not ruthless, I give generously.

I carry my own pen.

 

I want the world to be full of people who care.

I want people to be willing to behave that way to get us there.

 

I adopted my middle name “Elaine” as a nickname for a year in high school.

I traded in my SUV for an electric Prius.
