The Colors of the Fall
(Tune of "Colors of the Wind" sung by Judy Kuhn)
The summer days are starting to shorten.
And the late summer harvest is beginning to slow.
Then, I look at the trees
And I see the falling leaves
My heart sinks with the fact that I know
There’ll be snow
The summer gardens are starting to wither.
Once lovely plants are looking forlorn
But I know what those plants have worked hard for.
There’re the beans, there’s the pumpkin, there’s the corn.
The chill frosts portent winter weather.
The cold winds stir up a cloud of leaves
But I see a different side all together.
I see many colors blowing in the breeze.
Have you ever seen the Eastern woods in full color?
Or watched the change in colors come to all?
Have you hiked the autumn mountains with another,
to witness the unique vison that enthralls?
It’s time to savor all the colors of the Fall
There is fire red and orange in the forest
There are bright yellows in the trees
But this conflagration is only color
And its beauty is one that puts you at ease.
The rainstorm shakes the leaves from their mothers.
The deep purple leaves are falling from above.
I watch slow falling leaves that almost hover.
This is a wonderous spectacle I love.
How long will the Turning last?
It could go slow or it could go fast.
So come and see the Eastern woods in full color
As trees create a multicolored shawl.
Its time to see willows turn into painted fountains.
It’s time to savor all the colors of the Fall
Don’t stay inside cold and glum
You’ll miss what the world’s become.
Let’s go out to savor all the colors of the Fall
