My teen says “Mo-om.”

And I know what she wants.

You see, every time she gets hungry

She wants me to respond.

 

Now I have a confession

Sometimes its hard to get her concession.

I’ve been trying to get her to do the chores.

I can’t even get her to the grocery store.

 

But I ain’t complaining

You wanna eat something?

So go ahead and wash the dirty dishes.

 

If you live here, you have to work, dear.

Now, I have to go to the store

I’d tell her “These are orders not wishes.”

 

When I show up

I want the dishes clean.

I want the trash out.

I want the pets fed

 

When I show up

I want the table wiped

See folded clothes

I wanna a made bed.

 

When I show up

Turn off the TV

Shut blinds so people can’t see

Neatened magazines


When I show up

I want my house clean

I want to see clothes

in the washing machine.

She used to tell me I was silly

She wanted me to feel guilty.

But I was stern and made her do her chores.

And now I’ve got her vacuuming the floors.

When were in the garden,

I want the tools to be clean.

Lush plants fresh and green

I want no weeds to be seen.

 

When we work the garden

I want mulch on the plants.

I don’t want moles making holes

I want it neat at first glance.
