Wide Rolling Pastures
(Tune to “Wide Open Spaces” by The Chicks)
Driving toward the gleaming city of Albany
To her home on the hill of harmony.
On the rushing highway of I-90
Through the expansive Mohawk Valley
She saw barns passing in the edge of her eye
Old farm houses constructed near by
Horses in their paddocks, the cows were out
The silos stood tall and proud.
She saw the wide rolling pastures
Wide-stretching fields of corn and hay.
All along the smooth way
Toward Hudson Valley
She traveled this road as a child.
With the beauty of New York, she was beguiled.
She no longer wanted to live out west.
So Albany was where she made her nest.
She saw the wide rolling pastures
Wide-stretching fields of corn and hay.
As she travelled her journey
To her home in Albany.
To her home in Harmony
The hills rolled along the edge of the sky.
And rocky Mohawk river never ran dry.
Seeing so many farms she could attest.
New York state is truly blessed.
She saw the wide rolling pastures
Wide-stretching fields she could survey.
On the drive that nice day
Through the Mohawk Valley.
