Soft falling snow

The swirling ice flakes

touch my nose

winter world is here

 

The forest asleep

Muted cold realm

with creatures tucked deep

winter world is here

 

The powder dust of soft snow

Fluttering snow falls down below

The winds pick up and begin to blow

The white skies clear

The clouds leave and sun appears

 

Wind blowing the snow

I watch the tall snow banks grow

There’ll be so much fun

People will sled and ski

Many friends together skate ice feeling free

There’ll be fun in the sun

 

I see the sun

Shine on the snow

Soon icicles begin to show

I feel the sun

Snow melt’s begun

My feet crunch through the crust below

 

Movement as people

Stir in their homes suiting up feeling gleeful.

They step out to a world that looks regal

Now a fresh world

The new slopes are unfurled

 

I see people

Come out to play

To enjoy this lovely day

Because they know

layers of snow

make surfaces they can glissade.

 

Through the air

Snowballs fly

Behind snow forts the children hide

The game plays out

No time to pout

Each side tries to secure the prize

 

I hear the laughs

Of skaters rise

Up into cold, clear skies

Each untimed spill

Adds to the thrill

They embrace the spirit of each new try.

 

I feel the rush

Of skiers pass

Trying to make their descent last

I cheer them on

Watching with awe

As they bank and swerve so fast

 

I watch the speed

as sledders glide

I see their joy with my own eyes

With each tumble

They then scramble

And walk up the hill for another ride.

 

The crisp cold air I can feel.

It stirs the blood inside me

The world around me feels so real.

Spend the day with me, come let’s hurry!
