(Tune of “Wonderful” from Broadway play Wicked)
I was not happy where I used to live.
My differences, they never would forgive.
So, I retrained myself.
I earned a Master’s degree.
I interviewed for a job
In a new place I could be.
I was delighted.
I felt at home in a place so far.
I packed my things
And cut all my strings
And traveled here by car.
Wonderful
New York is
Wonderful
They told me
“Wonderful
Is Albany.”
I saw it’s
Wonderful
We all said
“Wonderful”
Now I am happier and free.
The trees are wonderful.
The farms are wonderful.
See who feels wonderful
This dame lovely.
Who works
And uses tech
To powerful effect
In Albany she lives in harmony.
Then, a quarantine arose and all had to work from home.
It felt like a disaster.
If you see it in one of two manners.
But, let’s be optimistic.
Every hardship can bring something fantastic if you let it.
A tragedy can bring growth or be something to loath.
A mistake is misfortune or good luck.
A setback is a mean joke or a chance to cope.
It’s about your outlook and efforts to build up.
Many people will decry
sudden changes in their lives.
So we need brave workers to step-up.
Life can be wonderful
We’ll make it wonderful.
Clever, hardworking people
Are ones we need most.
Together we’ll keep up hope.
We’ll rebuild our lives piece by piece
Our tests will cease.
The end will be celebrated.
When all’s rehabilitated.
We’ll see better times increase
A festival in Albany
When life has a new lease.
