(Tune of “365 Days” by ZZ Ward)
It was time to pack up and leave
Find something that was right
Went to a new city where we could live in better light.
We moved in early autumn
I started a new job
Made a new home and friends in a place that I love.
Then the problems came fast
But, I made damn sure that I would last.
365 days, a year to the date
I bravely made a life change
It’s never too late
Now summer’s over
And I’m a winner
Powerful winner
Lawsuits and visitation
A case in the courts
The cost of lawyers and flights didn’t make me change my course
Pandemics and quarantines
Made us all stay at home
Social distancing started and we all felt alone
But, at work I drove the action
From home I tried to make some traction
365 days, I ran through the course
With careful planning and drive
I never came up short
And I’m stronger,
tougher, older
harder, winner
Trips to the emergency
Going in for surgery
Missing my child all summer
Bravely fighting breast cancer
Colleagues leave work, giving up
Empty office, work piles up
But, I triumphed and ran the show
Used the experience to grow
365 days, I’ve been on your plate
You keep twisting the game
I keep playing it straight
Cause I’m stronger
Bolder, brighter,
Older, clever
365 days, it’s been a real treat
With every challenge I show you
I can stay on my feet
The summer’s over
Stronger now
tougher now
